"Say what you want to satisfy yourself, but you only say what everybody else says you want."

--Mika

The quote? It's because I'm silently singing 'Grace Kelly' by Mika to myself.

The blog entry? I haven't posted anything for a while.

In class we're talking about plot, climax, and that kind of stuff. I'm really excited about it (I might look like I'm extremely bored in class, but I'm actually listening!) because I want to learn more about writing stories. I'm going to write a book or a short novel, so this information really helps! I'm still at the planning part of the story, and having too many characters doesn't help speed the process.

I tend to make "To Do Lists" for myself, and then I tick off everything I've done. I hadn't made one for two weeks or something, so I made one. And now I'm scared. The entire page is filled. Mostly drawing requests I get from people, but there are a bunch of other assignments and I have no idea how I'm going to manage it. But I'll do it somehow, even if it takes too long.

I have too many books to read. Like, 5.

I think I won't add anything new to both those lists until I'm done with most of them.

Anyway, in English class we're making this book list. We have to pick the books we would like to keep if all the books in the world were going to be burnt. My friend and I made a short list, and now we're trying to make a class list by showing everybody's lists to a certain 'chosen person' who will put them together. After that, each of us get a book from the class list, and we memorize a part of it. Then we read it to class! I have no idea what I'll get, but I hope it's something I like. If PJatO was in the list that would be easy for me since I read the 5th book (The Last Olympian) 6 times and knew most of it from memory anyway :P It's too bad PJatO is not in anybody else's list.

Happy Turkish Republic Day!!

Done

Hello! I just finished the Son of Neptune, and I'm here at midnight, to talk about it!
Great book, amazing characters, action scenes and the others are well balanced, funny jokes, but one big problem.

The end.

Mr Riordan, I don't know why you do this to me. I don't know why you do this to all the other fans. Why, would you not include the scene we had all been waiting for? I just don't understand that. Of course, cliffhangers are nice, they make the reader want to continue reading, and you do a great job at that, BUT I HAVE TO WAIT A YEAR TO READ THAT PART. THE LOST HERO, I DIDN'T LIKE THE CHARACTERS. I don't want to read Piper's constant whining and Jason's clueless comments on everything. No, just no. And now, the Son of Neptune. Everything was great, I never got bored of the book, all the characters were awesome (maybe not Octavian, though. and I didn't like Reyna), but WHY, just WHY would you end a book like that? And if you're going to do that...SAMMY, LEO? WHAT? WHAT? YOU DON'T LEAVE PEOPLE THAT CURIOUS! Or at least DON'T TORTURE US! DON'T MAKE US WAIT SO LONG TO FIND OUT!!

Oh also, near the end a character named Frank (one of my faves) gets the book The Art of War by Sun Tzu. Didn't we talk about that in class?

"House gods, like...smaller than real gods, but larger than apartment gods?”

--Percy Jackson

Um soooooo I'm still reading Son of Neptune.
I've had a very busy week and I haven't had time to do homework, so finishing the book might take longer than I expected. Ugh.

Usually I have nothing to do, so I just go and fill 7 pages of my sketch book or spend hours watching anime episodes, but then I get those weeks from time to time when I just have so much to do that I don't know how I can manage it.

Today we 'celebrated' UN day at school. It was, well, boring. Last year was so much better (and no, I'm not saying that because last year they had more food)! We couldn't even walk around so much; we had to sit in the science lab and watch people repeat information about mole day.

I hope we write something in English class soon.

I just can't start writing my story >.< I don't know why!

I don't get many comments on my posts, it makes me feel like I'm talking to myself.

Busy

Guess why I'm here? :)

My mom walked through the door 10 minutes ago with a brown Amazon package! MY BOOKS!!!

YAAAAAAY YIPPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE WOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NOW I CAN READ THEM AND I'LL BE DONE WITH ALL THREE BY NEXT WEEKEND!

My only problem is how busy I am! I don't really have time to read!!

*sighs*

I'll stay up late and read every single moment I am free. I'll read in breaks, before classes, during classes, at midnight, at 2:00 am, on UN day, in the car, in the bus; I'll read until I can't read anymore.

Of course this creates a big problem and takes away all my free time and I won't be able to draw and UGH!

I'll finish Son of Neptune in 2-3 days. The two HTTYD books will take shorter, probably. lkjhgfdsfdgfhjkljghfdfsd

ABOUT ENGLISH CLASS!:
Yesterday we listed similes and metaphors from Fahrenheit 451 (pages 113-160, approximately). That was only our group though, the other group had to find allusions. Today? We looked at some details about blogs, and then we read passages from Fahrenheit 451 and had to comment on it. It was fun!
I decided my favorite character is Beatty. Here's a question: Why do most of my favorite characters die? It's really sad.

TO DO LIST!:
x commish, art trades, gifts, such drawing stuff
x a map of a planet I'm creating
x plot map for my story
x shower
x homework
x reading, reading, reading!
x ...I have no idea, I forgot! >.<

PICTURES!:

The cover for Son of Neptune by Rick Riordan!

A photo of Ryan Reynolds (unrelated to everything I've talked about this entry) because Mr. Dale asked me if I liked Ryan Reynolds. Or did he? I don't really remember, but somebody did. I'm always floating around in my thoughts, so...yeah...

Wow

An amazing drawing by Hong Chun Zhang! I found this over here in this link our art teacher shared with us. Wish I could draw like that. I've never understood how people draw hair. I mean, sure, I can draw hair, but I can't make it look this realistic :/ Anyways, I shall now worship this artist.

RAWR!

Hello!
I'm here today to talk about that dragon article I read. It was in the 33rd issue of "NTV tarih"

I knew dragons were a big Chinese thing, but I never knew most of the European and Asian civilizations had included dragons in their religions and myths. The article says that in a story in the 13th century, it was told that when a snake reached the age of 100, it became a dragon, and God threw it in the water. After that, the 'dragon' drew out fins, and created waves in the sea. The dragon then flew into the sky and produced rain.
There were many kinds of dragons, like the water dragons, the sky dragons, and the earth/soil/ground dragons. While the sky dragons were good, the ground dragons represented bad things.
Dragons were said to be great guards. For example, in Greek myths, dragons protected special items; like the Golden Fleece and the apple tree in the Garden of Hesperides.
Dragons were wise, a source of life, and a part of the calender!
If you had slain a dragon, you were mighty and whatever. The article says Greek gods had to kill a dragon before they could be qualified as gods. I'm not sure if that's true. But Zeus did kill Typhon (although he isn't exactly a dragon)!

I kind of wish dragons were real. Even if I didn't own one, it would be amazing to see one.

Myself and my pet dragon Porfirio flying over a rainbow that radiated pink light in the middle of night which is scientifically impossible, but of well! Drawn with a program called dAMuro and drawn very badly too! Don't you just love my digital art?

"One for all, all for one!"

Hehehe now you can guess another movie I saw :)

The Three Musketeers!

I remember reading a shortened Turkish version when I was small. I didn't completely understand what was going on, but I got the general idea.

The movie? It was cool. The beginning was just awesome. But I have no idea how to describe it. So I won't :P
I think the transitions were a little rushed. Like, they all fainted, and suddenly it wrote "1 Year Later" across the screen. The same thing happened twice or maybe more! There were lots of action scenes, and the creators really let their imaginations run loose. My dad said they really stuck to the story, though. That makes me happy!

I had two reasons to watch the movie:
1- I liked the plot.
2- Logan Lerman was acting it in.
Logan does not look good with long hair.

Bad things:
My books are still not here!

Good things:
I ate fish burgers!
I still get to be excited for my books!
I bought lots of nice pens and pencils :)
I also got a magazine about the history of dragons.
Apparently Ryan Reynolds is going to be a model for Marks and Spencer. This gives me a reason to squeal and get hyper every time we pass the shop.
I'm lost in my thoughts!
Which means I might just get started on writing my little novel.
I somehow am managing to be too busy to be bored. And I have no homework.

Athos has always been my favorite, but I always forget his name!

"Can we just call them storm spirits? Venti makes them sound like evil espresso drinks."

--Leo Valdez (The Lost Hero, Rick Riordan)

I just created this post to say a couple things:

I'm sad; I don't have the Son of Neptune yet. Apparently they're gonna ship it tomorrow. I have no idea when I'll get the book. And this is only because of a stupid mistake I made. I thought Inheritance was coming out on OCTOBER the 8th, while it was actually coming out in NOVEMBER. I realized this on Friday and asked my dad if I could order the book. He told me to wait for another day because he was going to order some books too. Another day? I could read the entire book twice in one day.

It looks like I'm such a pessimistic person. I'm always complaining. I'm sorry, I'm usually not like this. I think it's the math exam.

Anyways, here's some nice things that I'm overexcited about:
IN A WEEK I WILL HAVE READ SON OF NEPTUNE!
I ALSO ORDERED THE TWO BOOKS OF HTTYD THAT I DIDN'T HAVE!
3 of my friends are writing me short stories as part of art trades :) I draw something for them, they write something for me! I can't wait to read what they've written!
In a month or maybe more, I'll order some of the new 52 :)
In the last three weeks, 3 new episodes of young Justice came out! They were all amazing (but I wish they focused on Kid Flash a bit more).
I put my iPod on shuffle, and it's been playing my favorite songs!
Full moon is next Wednesday!
IT'S RAINING! I LOVE RAIN!
Two days ago, I was comparing the pictures I drew in 7th grade with the ones I drew lately. IMPROVEMENT IS SWEET LIKE A...CHOCOLATE BAR!
I added new photos to that column at the right side of my blog :)
I've been sleeping too much.
I don't think I'm ill anymore!
I finished all my homework before 18:30 :D
NO MATH HOMEWORK!
TUNA!
I discovered hidden chocolate.
And it's Toblerone.
Om nom nom nom nom!

Bad things:
They've been playing elevator music on the radio all day! :(
I'm out of pudding.
My coloured pens are dying! And they're not sold in Turkey!

Daily picture time:

This one above is a "zegasus". Someone asked me to draw something peppermint themed, and my though process was this:
peppermint = stripes = zebra = horse = pegasus = zegasus
I would like to take credit for this creature.

Leo Valdez! One of my favorite characters from PJatO.

mmmmmmmmmmmm! <3

I don't post anything related to English class, do I?
I won't post anything unrelated to English class until I get Son of Neptune. Why? Because when I get the book, I will be partying all day, and that includes the time I'm on my blog.

Thanks for bearing with me :)

Doubly Yuk Yuk

I'm going to order Son of Neptune today, and I was checking if I could order other books too. Then I came across the latest book of the How to Train Your Dragon series. And then I had a flashback to fifth grade when I was obsessed with these books. They made me like fantasy books. They made me like dragons. THOSE BOOKS ARE THE REASON TO EVERYTHING I DO (not really).

I have a shelf of Dragon related things, which includes 10 books and a dragon statue/toy. 7 of these books are from the HTTYD series. The other 3 are Eragon, Eldest, and Brisingr.

I just
I mean
AAAaaAAAAA

Anyway the picture at the top is a mood dragon: dragons that change colour according to their moods. Those species of dragons were introduced later on in the series, and one of them was the dragon of a character named Camicazi. She was my favorite character after Hiccup.

I didn't watch the movie because after seeing the trailer, I was protesting. They had ruined everything in the book, 2 OF THE MAIN CHARACTERS WEREN'T EVEN IN THE MOVIE. Anyway, I hate it when they ruin books by making a movie of it.

More about English class, yesterday we looked at another blog and then...what did we do? Of yeah, we presented the drawings we had drawn. And I think that was it.

Bleh bleh bleh bleh.

"Foolishness."

---Saphira

I slept for an hour, and I'm feeling a lot better.

This is a cinquain I wrote about a photo of a destroyed library and three men looking at the books inside it:

It doesn't
matter where you
read, in a chair or in
the middle of war, as long as
you read.

Hmm mm pppp pr pr pr mhmhmhmhm.

I'm sorry, I'm a little bored.

Have a sketch of modernized Apollo (Greek God of music, poetry, archery, health and the sun):

And Apollo's haiku in The Titan's Curse by Rick Riordan:
"Green grass breaks through snow
Artemis pleads for my help
I am so awesome."

Hee hee hee.

Tirade

I AM SO FRUSTRATED RIGHT NOW, I JUST THOUGHT IF I TALK ABOUT IT I MIGHT BE LESS FRUSTRATED.

Math is a silent killer

Here's something my partner and I drew in English class. We had to make a visual representation of a paragraph in Fahrenheit 451 (page 83), mostly about quality.

That's Montag and Clarisse talking, by the way.

I was going to colour it and make it neater, but right now I'm a little depressed because I have a math exam tomorrow, I think it's going to be hard, and I don't understand the challenge questions the teacher gave us >.< I could just go to bed and sleep. I'll post some more examples of the things we wrote for English class.

This was the question:
How would you respond if someone asked you, "Are you happy?" How do you define happiness? What makes you happy in life? What impedes (or obstructs) your happiness?
Is a state of happiness something you continually strive for?

My answer:
I was working on my comment, and for some reason it got deleted. Until then, I was happy. Now I'm not. Happiness is a feeling. Feelings are unstable. A person can be patient and stay that way their entire life, but emotions are not like that. Unexpected things can come and ruin people's moods (like what just happened to me). They could be sad, and a person could tell them a joke and they'd be happy again.
Montag took happiness as a quality, not a feeling. At first he thought he was happy, because he had a job, a house, and was married. But when he thought about it he realized the bad things in his life. His job was wrong, and he didn't actually love his wife.
If you want to be "happy" you have to do what you like doing, not what you do just so you do it. As I mentioned before, happiness is unstable. But things you like are not. So basically if you do things you like, you can stabilize the feeling. It's only then that happiness becomes a quality and not just a feeling.

Other question:
Read carefully the following list that identifies several influences on a society's value of books and writing. How do these influences affect the attitudes and behaviors of a society?
Select one influence from the list and describe its role in shaping the attitudes of people toward books and their reading behaviors.
Please use details from Fahrenheit 451 to support what you say.
• Advances in Technology
• Population Growth
• The Increasing Pace of Life
• Abridged Versions of Writing
• Elimination of Time Wasting Thought
• Shortened School Day
• Pursuit of Pleasure
• Leisure
• Increased Physical Activity/Organized Sports
• Impatience
• Minority Pressures/Fears of Offending

My answer:
Impatience.
Impatient people can't wait for anything, and are easily bored or angered.
I like speaking from experience, and that's why I picked impatience. Most of the time I'm very patient, but when I'm reading books or watching movies, I tend to skip parts I find boring. I like reading any scene with action, a little bit of romance, scenes that include my favorite characters, and especially scenes with dialogue. The parts I skip are those long paragraphs with no dialogue at all. The same applies for comic books. The reader looks for action in comic books, not pages of philosophy about the characters.
My point is, as things change people have more things to do, and things happen very quickly. Using the internet or similar sources, we can get what we want in a matter of minutes. This creates impatience in people, because (for example) when their internet loads slowly, or when their video buffers slowly, it takes longer for them to get what they want. That's what happens in some books (usually fantasy books where the author just keeps going about the area surrounding the characters. Or non-fiction biography books. If not written properly, they can be very boring.)
Why do we read books? Because we find their topic interesting. Because it's homework. Because we have nothing else to do. If the book doesn't give you what you want, don't you want to stop reading? This is a sign of impatience and being picky.

Other question:
"Humanity is losing its ability to be alone with nothing but our thoughts."

So writes Buzz Poole in "The Consequences of Writing Without Reading" in the online magazine Imprint.
What might Ray Bradbury think of the statement? What do you think?
Poole also provides a fill-in-the-blank sentence that invites readers to engage his exploration of the theme. Complete the sentence yourself, read the article , and then post your comments in the forum.

"Wanting to write without wanting to read is like wanting to _____ without wanting to _____."

Answer:
"Wanting to write without wanting to read is like wanting to paint without wanting to use paint."

Honestly I disagree, but that's only because I like spending hours thinking. When I can't find anything to do, I sit down or lie on my bed and think. About what happened at school that day, what a person said to me, how much I laughed at lunch, what I drew in art, the plot of the story I'm planning, whatever. I don't know what other people do, so I can't speak for them.
I think Ray Bradbury would agree to this statement. Not only in Fahrenheit 451, but also in his short story "The Pedestrian" which we read last year: he's always creating worlds where people are stuck to the TV screens and are arrested for walking outside at night, or they've lost their ability to have opinions on things. People in Fahrenheit 451 were also always watching TV, and talking about how cool their new wall was. The burning of books took away peoples chances of reading others opinions, and knowing different opinions on things makes you think! Also stories in books turn the creativity switch on in our brains! Without reading you can't get inspired! Without reading you won't know what or how to write. You won't know how to draw, you won't know how to argue. You won't know how to think. I really like Ray Bradbury's approach on this. He predicted the future!
I read a lot. I've always read a lot. And I write too (but I usually get bored of the story and never bother to finish it. or my co-author abandons the story but that's another thing). When I'm thinking characters walk into my mind. I like developing the idea and making it into a story. If I didn't read and think so much I wouldn't even try.

Ahh I feel like I've gone off topic. READ BOOKS, PEOPLE!

And here's a little something to cheer me up:

"Get up, you somnolent fool!"

--Oran

Who's Oran? He's one of my favorite characters in a story I'm working on. He teaches better vocabulary than some teachers do. Seriously. Usually I never get to finish my stories, but this time I'm trying to find what I did wrong in the last stories and fixing my mistakes.
Note to totodilekid97: We really need to talk about when Axel comes in. You told me to go on skype, but you're not there. Also, ART TRADE.

TODAY in English class we looked at some other peoples blogs. Then we had to complete this sentence:

"The purpose of books is..."

Here's what I wrote:

"The purpose of books is making people know, think, feel and be creative. Books inspire people. They tell us what we don't know, they make us imagine."

Apparently we're going to write more.

I just remembered I had things to do. I'm also really sleepy. That kind of explains the title of this post: Oran is telling me to get up and move far away from the computer, and get to work.

"Why so serious?"

--The Joker

Guess which movie I just watched?

I had no homework, and there was an "on sale" shelf at the book/DVD/CD store. I was going to buy Thor, but I'll wait a little while. Anyway, on the shelf, there was a Batman staring at me. And I really wanted to watch the Dark Knight, AND IT WAS ON SALE, sooooo I bought it. After celebrating "no homework" with my friend by going to Starbucks, I sat down and watched the movie.

What I thought about it?

It was so epic.

But unrealistic.

Batman took out at least 30 guys from SWAT in 5 minutes. And then at the end of the movie, he was still running around after getting bit by dogs, beaten up with a crowbar, being shot, and falling off a building.

I have no writing to post. That's sad. I'll take a look at my poetry journal again. OH WAIT I KNOW, HERE IT IS!

The Apple -- by S.C. Rigg

We read that poem out loud in our Poetry Night (also in 7th grade). I hope we have another poetry night. It was really fun!

And now have some spam of Batman related stuff (and expect some fan art!)

BTW: I'M SO EXCITED ABOUT DC'S NEW 52! But I have to wait like, a month, before I buy any more comics.
ALSO, TWO OF THE BOOKS I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR (Son of Neptune by Rick Riordan and Inheritance by Christopher Paolini) COME OUT THIS WEEK!
