"Let me enlighten you, priest."

--- 'King' Hyperion.

And then he set the guy on fire. Now that was a nice pun/joke, but it was just cruel.

Before I talk about the movie, I will summarize my Saturday.

I went to the dentist and did some stuff about my braces. They're going to put them on on Friday o.O
After that, I sat at home and wrote a bit of my essay. I ate lunch, and we started driving to Atlıspor for horse riding. If you ride horses, you need to wear long thick boots, or these other things over your shoes. I have those 'other things'. I don't know what they're called in English. They're like...leather things that cover from your ankle to below your knee. Anyway, I was putting those on in the car.
I got car sick. It wasn't nice. And near the end of my lesson I felt like I was going to throw up, so I had to stop the horse. We got back home, I took a shower, and we went to Ankuva with my mom to watch Immortals. I was going to watch it with friends, but I couldn't arrange it, so yeah.
I stomach was still bad. I was still car sick, but I was sitting in the cinema, so that was a little weird.

The movie? It was the goriest movie I have ever watched in my short life of 14.5 years.
There was blood everywhere, and it was a little too realistic. 3D did not help with the goriness either.
Now, time to complain about the mythical side of the movie.
First of all, there is a reason why the gods are called IMMORTAL. They cannot be killed. Same with the Titans. They didn't die, they were ripped into pieces and thrown into the pit of Tartarus. Also, the Titans were not awkward gray skinned men who knew nothing but to kill and groan!
Then, the gods. Athena was too girly. And I didn't like her fighting style. Girl, if you keep spinning around, of course someone is going to stab your back. So much for the goddess of WISDOM and BATTLE STRATEGY.
I thought Ares was Hephaestus! I checked IMDb to be sure, and it says Ares. But the guy carried a HAMMER. And his face was way too childish to be Ares. I think they decided to merge the two brothers and call it Ares. He was too weak to be Ares!!
I can't complain much about Poseidon, he was just awesome, but in the last battle why did he not use his epic oceanic powers!?
I think I saw Hermes the first time the showed Olympus, but I'm not sure that was Hermes.
Where was Hera? Aphrodite? Demeter? Where were the rest of the Olympians? Where was HADES?
Zeus, where was your lightning? Your thunder?
Basically the gods were just a bunch of pretty people walking around half naked and getting their skin ripped out of their heads.

I could keep going on and on.

Oh also, Hyperion is the Titan of light, not a mortal king who likes to stuff girls into bull statues and roast them alive.

Anyway, I have some questions about the movie too.

Was this made because people wanted to see violence on the big screen?
Why does a 14 year old girl know more mythology than you?
Homer would be disappointed.
Was the purpose of the movie to tell people that there is a God and atheists die because they don't believe?
Or was it something else?

Overall, it was an entertaining movie and you should watch if you want to see some action.

Ughghghg my tummy does not feel good.

Zzzzzz

Yesterday, before I slept, I grabbed my iPod and started ranting on Blogger mobile. Sadly my iPod decided to shut down. And I lost all of my wonderful tirade.
Anyways, I'm not going to type all of that up.
But that tirade was not just "Oh I'm so tired and I hate life these things are so baddddddddddd!". It was actually meaningful, and if CERTAIN PEOPLE read it they might have learnt something.
I'm rather tired right now. I've been running around shouting and pretending I was Roy Mustang and Jean Havoc from the Fullmetal Alchemist manga (of course I was doing this with other friends, I don't do this kind of stuff when I'm home alone, that would just be awkward).
On Thursday, I dropped my bag at homeroom and walked to my locker to put away my coat. When I came back, a huge green book was sitting next to my bright blue bag. I stopped talking to my friends, and ran to the book screaming "INHERITANNNNNNNNNNCEEEEEEEEEEE!"
I got some awkward glances from people, but I didn't really care. Thank you very much to my wonderful fluffy haired friend for letting me borrow his book and being there for me when I need to talk to him. :)
Yes, so, I have Inheritance. Unfortunately I haven't had time to read the book yet! I'm only on the second chapter! And this guy called Yunus tries to spoil the book for me every time I see him in math class! It's annoying!!

I really wonder what the 3 mistakes (hohoho!) on my math test are about.

I have too much homework.

In two weeks or something, I'll have braces. I'm kind of worried, because everybody tells me it's like torture and you can't eat or drink anything except soup for the first month. I don't like soup!

Ah, just remembered I had to draw Samwise from LOTR for my friend Eda. Because I drew Frodo and he's alone without Sam. :(

On Sunday or Monday I'll post my personal essay here. I think I like it so far.

By the way, Mr. Dale; you know you said to write a dialogue for the beginning and end? Would it be okay to use original characters from my book/story? I can't write much about them (no time!!)...

Heh, if anybody reads my blog entries I'm sorry for writing so many random things that don't relate to English class in almost any way.

I'm sorry if I have spelling mistakes here. I was going to proofread it but decided it was too long.
Now I'll go and sleep.

Coolness

I have a quote that doesn't relate to anything I will talk about this entry:
Obi-Wan: But Master Yoda says I should be mindful of the future.
Qui-Gon Jinn: But not at the expense of the moment.

From The Phantom Menace. I think it's true.

Anyway, English class time!
Like, 3 weeks earlier, we had made lists of books we would like to keep if all the books in the world were going to be burnt.
That one was a personal list. We got in pairs and put together another list. Afterwards, we mailed all those lists to our friend Ezgi, who created a class list.
A link to it is here.

I'm very happy about this list. I think we have a nice variety of books (maybe too many British authors and fiction books...).

Now, everybody in the class picks one of these books. We memorize a part of the book, and we read it to an audience made up of our friends, teachers, and parents, on a certain night.

I want to read either the Odyssey or the Alchemist. The Odyssey because I'm a Greek myth freak, and the Alchemist because the first 7 pages of the book have been interesting so far.

Oh well, we'll see what happens on Tuesday. Right?

The weekend passed so quickly! I want to watch a nice movie.

IMMORTALS! THEY'RE SHOWING IT IN BILKENT! ASSSSSASAFHJGHDSDFSJHK!!
But I want to watch that movie with certain friends :( And I can't arrange that now! I can't contact one of them, and the other will probably not be able to come (totodilekid97, READ THIS) because he'll make up a reason.

I...I want to watch that movie...

I know that throughout the entire movie, I'll be complaining about how they messed up a certain myth or character.

Flames

Hello!
This entry I will talk about English class and something else.
So first the something else.
Yesterday, I went to the German Embassy with my cousin, aunt and grandma. There was this event they called the 'Lantern Festival'. Apparently they celebrate this every year, and kindergardeners and 1-4th graders go there with their handmade lanterns and sing songs. I couldn't go last year because of school.
So now, what is the Lantern Festival about? The 11th of November is called St. Martin's Day. St. Martin was a Roman soldier. One night, he cut his cloak in half and have it to a beggar, so they both wouldn't freeze in the cold. I don't know the whole story (because everybody was talking in German and I don't know enough German to understand).
First, everybody gathered in a big grassy area. The kids sang songs (out of tune) and then they acted out a scene. Afterwards, we walked towards a wide manege. The kids went first, with the glowing lanterns swinging in their hands.
A man in a cloak and a black beautiful horse was trotting around, waving at people.
When we arrived there, my aunt entered the line for food. My cousin dragged me to the center of the manege, where an enormous fire was being lit.

Wood was piled up to form something that looked like a tent. Around the wood were fences. Three men with lighters circled the wood and, started the fire.
Yes, the title of this entry. Flames.
I think fire is beautiful. It's warm, bright.
This particular fire was astounding. The wind blew it towards one direction, and all the ashes rained down on us (my cousin and his friends acted like the ashes were some kind of deadly thing and ran around screaming). The ashes glowed orange.
The flames reminded me of blonde hair with orange highlights. They danced, they swayed, they moved to and fro.
The dark night was cold. Very cold. Luckily, I was wearing my boots, coat, and hat. But these did not stop the cold completely. My upper legs, by face, my hands, were freezing. I stood near the fire. It warmed me up almost instantly.
First, I forgot the stinging feeling on my legs and fingers. Then, I felt like my face was burning. Like I had a REALLY bad fever. I got worried for a second, but I got used to the heat. It was calming. It made me want to crawl into my bed and sleep.
Beautiful.

Enough description, here are some photos:

PS: I changed my mind, I'll talk about English class tomorrow!

Travel Blog 3

Firstly, some info about the place I visited.

I didn't have my computer with me (and writing long paragraphs on an iPod is just painful) so I wrote everything down in my notebook, and here are the pages:

OH and I forgot to write about this in the notes, but while we were driving we passed this forest. The trees...the trees were all orange and yellow, and it looked like the hill was on fire! It was amazing.
Flames are beautiful, really.

Question for totodilekid97 (who probably won't read this): In Pokemon Diamond, I'm trying to catch Azelf. I got it's HP down to...I don't know...2? 1? Something extremely low like that. It was night, and I was in a cave, but the dusk balls had almost NO effect. Help?

Meh meh meh. Too much stuff to do!

Travel Blog 2

Hi!

Today:
It's the first day of Bayram, so we visited elders. After that we went to watch The Adventures of Tintin: the Secret of the Unicorn with my aunt and cousin. I loved the art. It was a good movie, but I think it could have been better. Anyway, I bought myself the 26th volume of Fullmetal Alchemist!!! STUPID CLIFFHANGERS!! At least I only have to wait a month for the next one (MR. RIORDAN!). And I also bought some mythical beast figures. I'll put some pictures up. I was looking through all the figures and then this bright red thing caught my eye. I looked, and IT WAS A PHOENIX! I like phoenixes.

Below picture left to right: Dragon, Griffin, Unicorn

Travel Blog 1

Hello!
Mr Dale told us to write travel blogs/journals/that stuff.
I haven't gone anywhere, but I can still talk about...my adventures in the car!!

Thursday:
I went to my grandmothers house with a taxi. All the grown ups were worried and they were all calling me and asking me if I had a nice ride (uncoded: DID THE DRIVER DO ANYTHING TO DO??). It was a boring ride, and CALM everybody. Nobody did anything to me. The driver didn't even talk at all. *sigh*

Friday:
We went to Kızılay with my dad. It took forever. The traffic wasn't moving. I had my new sketchbook with me, so I was sketching stuff and then writing down the story ideas that came to my mind. The place we went to was closed, so we had to wait for a while. After we were done I went back home. Then we went to ODTU to talk to a professor with my friend for science fair. It was very fun! I learned some new info about frequency and radiation. Two hours later we went to the dentist with my dad, and after that I was ranting for an hour. In a month at most, expect to see braces on my teeth.
I watched Anadolu Kartalları. I thought it was amazing :) It really interested me, because once I wanted to be a military pilot AND I'm including pilots in my story. I could go on about the movie, but basically I think you must see it.

Today:
I went horse riding again! It cheered me up and pulled me out of my depressive mood. When I first started the sport, we rode these ponies called Haflingers. I thought they were called half-fingers...Anyway, they're short and fat and adorable. My favorite was a female one named Gonca. She was like me in horse form. And my friend Eda said she didn't like Gonca because she was annoying (see?). Gonca had a boyfriend called Alp and he was the most mischievous horse there. Eda didn't like him either. Eda liked the black ponies who didn't have any personality (if she sees this she'll get mad at me!). They were rather peaceful and well trained, while the Haflingers were like naughty kids! Now I ride horses in Atlıspor and I don't see any Haflingers around. :(
After that, I came home and drew. We started watching movies with my parents, but I got bored and now I'm here typing this, and finishing a drawing at the same time.

Heh, this was a long entry.

Inheritance is coming out in 3 days!!! *does chicken dance*

My next post will probably be about our class.

Hmmm....PICTURE TIMEEEEE!
