Is it correct to say "I could of..." ? I see people using it and I get a little...not frustrated, but annoyed when I see it. Is it a mistake or am I just wrong? Isn't it "I could have..." ? Doop dee deep doop.
When careless writers pen "could of", they mean "could have", and should've written "could've", the contracted form of "could have". I call them careless because they could've edited more carefully had they done what they should've.
