"Either I will conquer Istanbul or Istanbul will conquer me. "

I did get to watch Fetih 1453 yesterday. I won't spoil much, but I still want to reflect on it.
The movie began with me thinking Oh god, the effects are terrible....
We heard Hz. Muhammed say that one day Constantinople will be conquered, and the conquerer will be a great man. Then suddenly we're at the birth of Mehmet—Fatih Sultan Mehmet—and that too, passes rather quickly, and before you know it about 18 years have passed and we see an older şehzade (prince) Mehmet having a sword fight with Ulubatlı Hasan. We soon learn Hasan has taught Mehmet how to fight and they're pretty close friends. Then Mehmet learns his father has passed away. He visits him for the last time, speaking about how his father never showed him love. It's a rather emotional scene so early on in the movie.
Mehmet soon becomes the new Sultan, but he has a bad reputation with the public. He keeps making peace with countries, and everybody questions his authority.
The first half of the movie is about 1451 and 1452, and things Mehmet does in that time period. I found it a little confusing and it passed very quickly. In this first half, we also see the development of the relationship between Hasan and a woman names Era who makes cannons with her father. Also there are many scenes showing Emperor Constantine and his council.
The second half of the movie is the actual conquest. I won't say much about that. Because I think it's worth seeing!

My opinion of the movie...Well, it showed big improvements in Turkish cinema, we don't have many action movies, but this one was epic. The war scenes were extremely realistic—I had to look away at times—and I'm pretty sure it could compete with the Immortals in goriness. It was pure awesomeness. Sure, I don't like gore, but I was always excited and surprised.
So that was nice. But there was a big bad side to the movie too. The plot line wasn't very...well prepared? It seemed like the movie was more about war scenes than the actual plot and characters.
It was looooooooong, but there were missing bits!

I loved it anyway—maybe because it was about the Ottomans... Costumes were amazing too.
So, go watch it!

Pictures:

Yesterday I said I'd draw dragons, but that seemed like a hard task, so I drew other creatures instead.
So here's my interpretation of a chimera (head only), a chiwawa Cerberus, griffin/gryphon, pegasus (because they're beautiful), Prometheus and the vultures, and me on Porfirio!

For our art project I drew two perspective drawings today. It's very hard...but it was fun! I hope these drawings will clear things up for my friends.

Now time to do MUNESCO research...

O brave new world, that has such dragons in it!

Hello!
I haven't blogged in such a long time!! I've had a very weird week with happy days and horrible days. I think my feelings are effecting me physically. It's not nice. I need more sleep.
A friend upset me, our art project is too limiting and I don't get to do what I want, Cem's perfume is more like poison, I feel stupid...yes, more sleep is necessary.

In class we've been writing poetry, but using repetition. I posted examples of these in one of my last entries. Today, there's more!
We had to write down 6 words relating to each other and Brave New World. My words were: imagination, perfection, society, conditioning, similarity, uniqueness.
Then I wrote a pantoum inspired by these:

Perfect
we all must
be
in this world.

They force us to
be the same.
In this world,
we're conditioned.

"Be the same."
they say but we don't realize.
We're conditioned
to act as they want.

They say but we don't realize:
Perfect,
we're conditioned to
be.

***

I like it.
Now that loooooong poem we've been writing in class...Here is the unfinished version:

Don't you just love your imagination?
It helps us reach absolute perfection.
Who wants perfection? It's society
who wants perfection. Through conditioning
they change us so that similarity
overcomes the tiniest uniqueness.

Hey, you! Don't you just love your uniqueness?
Well, tough! They'll take your imagination
with it, so that your similarity
to the rest will be called their perfection.
How will they do it? Through conditioning,
I tell you! That's all 'bout society.

Where do we live? With the society
we live, right here with all our uniqueness
locked in our hearts. With their conditioning
we throw our precious imagination
into the same cage to reach perfection.
Dive in the waves of similarity.

Don't you just love your similarity
now? Now you won't realize society
gained its dream of inception: perfection.
So here we are, here we live, uniqueness
a bird without wings. Imagination
down the rabbit hole. 'Cause conditioning

did this to us. Because conditioning
changed us. Acquired similarity
we did, to others. Imagination.
What happened to it? Our society
is flawless, they have it all. Uniqueness
is unnecessary. Ah, perfection.

Wait, wait, is this what we called perfection?
Remember what we were? Conditioning
made us forget all of our uniqueness.
I try to recall...Similarity,
similarity...Oh, oh...Society
is perfect. No more imagination.

Imagination is perfection.
Society's weapon is conditioning.
Similarity is a calm sea, uniqueness is the spark at the tip of a match.

***

I hope I wrote that last stanza correctly.
I think I repeated myself a lot, because I had to use the same words!

I like writing poetry.

As our art project, we're designing a restaurant with the entire class. Everyone has a different job. I'm supposed to take care of the interior dining room architecture, which is basically the entire structure of the inside of the building. I had an idea I thought was really cool, but now my space is limited, everybody has different ideas, nothing is going like I imagined it first, and some people don't realize that I'm designing the interior, not them. So I'm going to show them exactly what I'm going to do, I will find a way to apply my own ideas, and I won't let them change anything about the architecture. That seems fair in my eyes.

I want to go watch Fetih 1453 but I'm still dizzy and I don't know if it will be good to stare at a huge screen for a long time...
I still want to go. But what if I get worse?

Mr. Dale, you seem interested in my dragon drawings. So I'll put some up here?

This isn't my first dragon drawing—I was drawing dragons in 5th grade, I think that's the earliest it gets—but I look at it now and think; Wow, this is...not my best work. But I was extremely proud of the drawing when I completed it—I think last year? I got inspiration from a bunch of places.

Edmund and his dragon—I was thinking of naming him 'Meron' or 'Emeron'. Oh look, they're flying up! I looked at a tutorial for this one, but I can't find the link now...Lets search for it... Okay, after a lot of searching I found it: http://www.dragoart.com/tuts/5541/1/1/how-to-draw-a-dragon-rider.htm

Saphira from the Inheritance Cycle (Eragon).

Links to some drawings on deviantART which are just awesome:
http://fav.me/d2du35v (rather bloody, this one)
http://fav.me/d6gt2n
http://fav.me/d3hwnr1 (the rider here is more manga style)
http://fav.me/d3alvnu
http://fav.me/d2vykta (the one in the tutorial)

I remember seeing another drawing when I was searching for the tutorial...but I can't find it!
All these inspire me to draw dragons. So I shall.

Life's a Happy Song

I watched "The Muppets" a few hours ago...
It was amazing! Funny, entertaining, but rather emotional too...
My childhood wasn't filled with them, but I remember watching them somewhere and laughing.
So I advise it.
They had wonderful songs! And Jack Black was awesome.
Um...yeah...

We have English homework but I didn't do it yet.

I'm going to go to Kentpark sometime this weekend and get The Rainbow Goblins. I'm really curious about it!

Looks like there's not much to talk about...or it's because of my head ache?

Effect of Light Intensity on Photosynthesis

Because I just finished my biology lab report.
Hello!
Wow it's getting late...and I'm sleepy!
Um, I'm here to post some poetry and talk about my horrible day.
I wrote a little V-Day story on the 14th...but I won't put it here because it's MINE MINE MINE.

We wrote a pantoum. I would try to explain but I'm kind of brain dead...
Well the first line had to be 'snowflakes'.
Here's mine:

Snowflakes
danced to and fro
and slowly, down,
with the wind.

Danced to and fro
the flames
with the wind
and battled the cool air.

The flames
slithered like a snake
and battled the cool air
like a dragon.

Slithered like a snake
the snowflakes
and like a dragon,
slowly, down.

***
I changed it slightly so it made...more sense...
I'm sure you can see how some lines are repeated.

Then today we had to write another kind of repeated poetry...
All lines had to be 10 syllables and the last line had to be the first.

Um, this is mine:

Some people are hypocrites, don't listen,
and keep blabbering random trivial
STUFF. They are pushing my limits. Go die.
It feels like you prayed I would have a bad
day. Don't insult others if you're not perfect.
Some people are hypocrites, don't listen.

***

I wanted to say more, but that's why I have this blog entry.

So, my horrible day. It started off well, nice breakfast, awesome art class (I got to paint a Pikachu with a mustache which I gave to an amazing person later on in the day...). Then we went to PE. We're doing archery and it's my favorite unit. But I was in the same team as the person who bothered me the entire day. This person was talking nonstop. I don't even know what he was saying. Then he was acting like he was the best archer in the world and just awesome at everything (EGOBIGGERTHANMYAPARTMENT) and ended up shooting the arrow to the edge of the target. When I told him to keep quiet because he was distracting us, he just insulted me and told me to shut my mouth. WHAT.
Then literature class. I was very worried about it because I couldn't finish a story (and it was getting graded). Ms. Rukiye was nice and let me finish it for later—sigh of relief. But this person frustrated me again. He just insulted me again and told me to shut up (HYPOCRITE, WHY BLAME ME FOR THINGS YOU DO?). Um, after eating lunch we 'studied' for math. Then I was physically hurt which was like pulling my trigger. The exam was horrible.
Thank you to all the people who tried to cheer me up, it means so much. And thanks especially to YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE.
Uh, hahahahaha.

I'd like to think that people insult others because they're trying to hide their flaws. Since they have so many.

"Didn't they knock down the Berlin Wall?" "We're in China, you nitwit!"

--A conversation between Impulse and Robin as they fly over the Great Wall of China. (Young Justice #2, Peter David, Todd Nauck, Lary Stucker)

For some reason I didn't procrastinate yesterday and I finished all my homework. Today I've been studying physics.
I realized I forgot to post something on my blog, so that's why I'm here now.
In class, we were shown a photo. It looked like everybody thought of something different, but in the photo I saw an ignorant polar bear and a barking dog/wolf. Then we were asked to write something about this. I wrote this:

Thump!
The polar bear had just sat down on the snow. He blinked once and watched the view. Snow, snow, snow. There was nothing else here! White snow, melting snow. It was boring.
What was that in the horizon? Something was coming this way! He stared, narrowed his eyes, and stared. Was it a sleigh? Yes, it was! A few dogs were pulling it towards him.
The dogs ran, tongues out, breaths quick. It took so long for them to reach him, but the bear waited patiently. The sleigh stopped, sending snow flying everywhere. Two men stood in it, shaking. Was it the cold? Or were they afraid of the bear?
The dogs were glaring, growling. But one of them wagged its tail and barked cheerfully.
"Wow! You're big! Lets play!"

* * *

It's short...and simple? A lonely polar bear looking for a friend. Aw.

Back to study...

"Other people give you fame, being a hero comes from within."

--Robin, Dick Grayson (Teen Titans: Year One)

I brought that comic book to school for no reason and I read it again. It's probably my favorite, because it's art is fabulous, it's about my favorite DC characters, and it's awesome.

In English class our assignment was to write sentences about three characters in Brave New World, but in a similar style to a speech of a character in Romeo and Juliet—Prince Escalus? I searched for it but couldn't find it. I picked Lenina, Bernard, and Linda.

My name is Lenina.
I toil away as a nurse at the CLHCC.
I am how society wants me to be, and normal.
I fancied Henry, Bernard, and the Savage.
But he was different.

My name is Bernard.
I am an Alpha and specialist on hypnopædia.
I wonder what it's like to have passionate feelings (and I'm considered odd).
I brought the Savage to London.
His actions changed my life.

My name Linda.
I went to the Savage Reservation with the Director.
I hit my head and the Director left me and I had to live there.
I was a mother.
Now I'm an outcast.

Yup. I used 'toil' instead of 'work'. I hope it worked!
Chapter 1 is almost finished. I'm working rather slowly because describing buildings is hard and everything is just out of my mind...Ahhhh...I'm also doing the official character art too! I've done two so far. One of them is their goddess. Her name is Gettheva (get-hee-vuh). The other is Claudia. She's one of the main characters and she's fun to draw, that's why. I need to do Kael, Oran, and Adrian quickly. My aim this week is to finish the first chapter and my editor and advisors (hohoho it's so cool saying that) to read and edit it. Because it's...a rough draft. But...3 EXAMS AND SO MUCH HOMEWORK. UGHHHGHGHHHHHHHHH!

We shouldn't get any homework for the weekend. It's supposed to be a two day holiday, not a sit-at-home-and-do-4-hours-of-chemistry-homework days. Sure, we learn from homework and all, but I procrastinate in the weekdays and I need long hours to do my own stuff.

Anyway I'm going to watch Yalan Dünya and draw,

"No fear."

--Hal Jordan (Green Lantern: Secret Origin by Geoff Johns, Ivan Reis, Oclair Albert)

That's a comic I bought months ago. I was at Remzi Kitapevi skimming through comics when I saw "Reynolds" written on a page. Of course I freaked out and got all excited. It's not about Ryan Reynolds though, he only wrote an intro for it, the comic is about Hal Jordan and how he became the first Green Lantern of Earth. The quote, "No fear." is from an awesome page where he's holding up a flying plane and it's my favorite page in the comic.

Anyway, this blog entry is about how I detest habits and our current topics in English class. I'm being honest here. Why? Because I just came to the realization that we (humans) are all just going through the same routine without knowing it, we're all ordinary, we're all the same, and we don't choose anything. Even if we do, it becomes a routine too. So we're just like the cows in Kosmos—going through the same process for years, just to die some day.
And I'm not doing anything against it. I'm just doing what I always do, unconsciously growing. And one day I'll die, just like that, just another human, insignificant, trivial.
I don't want it to be that way, but I can't bother. Because if I did bother, it would be fighting life itself, or maybe just the society, and the habits of society.
People are not immortal, but their deeds can be.

Oh, look, found the picture.

Arggh

Hi.
Friday, after school, Ezgi, Müfit, and I stayed to watch the Turkish movie "Kosmos". It was weird and confusing, but also original. I mean, it didn't seem like a Turkish movie. It was long too, too long. When my mom asked me what it was about, I realized I couldn't explain it at all. She said "Well what was its theme?" I replied "I don't know!"
But I liked the movie anyway. And being 5 people in the performance wing is cool!

In class we were talking about conditioning and habits. I think habits are a result of repetition (and conditioning is repetition too). I thought about some of my habits. I bite my lips, play with pen caps, doodle. I wake up at 7:00 on week days, no matter when I went to bed the previous night. For example I slept at 1:00 am last night, but woke up around 9:00. If it was a week day I would get up at 7:00. Nebila (I think it was her anyway) mentioned parents coming in our room to wake us up. That's their habit too, after so many years they do it unconsciously.
Then we were asked to write a cinquain about habits. While looking for inspiration, I realized almost everything I did daily was a part of a routine, a habit. I don't think about going to school, I don't think about going to my locker before homeroom, it just happens. I was rather upset, too. So here's my cinquain:

It seems
my whole life is
a simple routine that
just keeps being repeated.
Oh my.

Blogging is my habit too.
I decided to stop sketching in class. I'm going to write instead. "Bir taşla iki kuş." Two birds with one stone. I'll actually get something done, and it will be harder for teachers to notice, because they might think I'm taking notes. Hm hmm hmm.

Stupid homework. I don't understand an important part of it and there's no one to ask. And some of my friends said "You can ask me if you don't get it!" Where are you now?

My character Oran said “I cannot comprehend your sleep habits! Eighteen years, and I still do not understand you!” to Kael, because Kael has sleeping problems. Suddenly, habits are everywhere. Habits habits habits.
I'm not in a good mood. My pepper dragon looks like a stupid SNAKE and I don't understand the chemistry calculations. And no one is helping me. This situation creates a vacuum.

A Bit About Class

Good evening.
Um, I haven't talked about English class in a while.
We're reading Brave New World by Aldous Huxley. At first I did not like the book at all, but it suddenly became this amazing novel.
Two of our friends have told us about classical and operant conditioning. When I feel like I'm being influenced, I think about if it's classical or operant. I don't like it when this happens. It's like a physicist calculating the energy he uses up with every step he takes, while walking.
My friend Nebila and I presented a short power point about the '4 Loves'. They're 4 Greek words, representing 4 different kinds of love. I'll explain quickly:
Agape is unconditional love, deep love, between lovers.
Eros is physical attraction or love between lovers or just two people.
Philia is the love between friends.
Storge is the love between family members.

I just read Müfit's blog entry, (and unless you weren't talking to other people at the same time...well I doubt that anyway...I'm the skype conversation friend!) and I mean, you have made my day. I feel like I'm radiating happiness...like...glowing...Is that weird?

My 'novel' is very short right now. I need deadlines. But I have so much homework this week! Waaaahhhhhhhhhhh! It's so hard describing buildings.

I want to ask one of my friends to write a short story/scene relating to it...for inspiration... The problem is, I don't want to bother anyone and I don't think they'd be that interested! Maybe Ezgi would, but she must not get distracted from her own story!
